211 POLYURETHANE CLEAR

Saffro Mellow Coatings And Resins

211 POLYURETHANE CLEAR

Description

Two-component, air drying polyurethane based clear.

Recommended Use :-

This product is recommended Top coat for glossy , uv protection, weather property and also as penetrating primer on bare concrete, wooden substrate prior to application of subsequent coating system.

Physical Data :-

COLOUR : Clear
FINISH : Smooth & Glossy
SOLIDS BY VOLUME : 40 ± 3%
THEORETICAL SPREADING RATE : 16 sq.mt / ltr at a DFT of 25 µ
FLASH POINT : Base : Above 23°C Hardener : Above 23°C
DRYING CHARACTERISTICS (At 65% Relative Humidity & at 30°C) : HARD DRY : Overnight FULL CURE : 7 Days
SHELF LIFE : BASE : 6 months HARDENER : 6 months

Surface Preparation

New concrete should be cured for at least 1 month prior to paint application. Ensure concrete surface is absolutely dry and free from moisture, oil, laitance, dust and dirt. For old concrete, ensure surface is free from oil, grease, algal & fungal growth and any old coating. Sand Blasting on concrete gives the best performance and should be given first preference out of the available surface preparation methods. If blasting is impracticable, Acid Etching with diluted Hydrochloric Acid followed by fresh water washing to be adopted. Seasoned wooden articles should be scuffed with Emery 220/400 to achieve smooth surface. Please refer our Directive Sheet on Surface Preparation.

Application Data

MIXING RATIO : Base : Hardener (As per our recommendations)
APPLICATION : By Brush / By Conventional Spray
THINNER : Type 290
POT LIFE : 3 hours min at 30° C
RECOMMENDED DFT : 30-40 µ.
OVERCOATING INTERVAL : MIN : 8 hours MAX : Indefinite
COMPATIBILITY : Can be applied on Epoxy primers and oleo-resinous primer and coated / over coated by two component paints like Epoxy, PU, etc.

Application Method

Stir the Base part thoroughly. Mix the base and hardener as per our recommended ratio, by volume. Stir the mix thoroughly to attain homogeneity. Add Thinner Type 290 into the mix, if required, depending on application method, and stir thoroughly for few minutes. Allow the mixture to stand still (maturation) for about 10 minutes to initiate the reaction. Strain the paint through Nylon filter cloth and apply uniformly over the surface. All equipments used for above should be properly cleaned.

Application :-By Brush / By Conventional Spray / By Airless Spray

Generally no thinner is required for Brush application, however under adverse environmental conditions about 5% of thinner, by volume, can be added. Use quality brushes for paint application. Brushes made up of hog bristles are highly recommended. Size of the brush should be in proportion to the work in hand. Large size brushes (100-125 mm) for large areas and small brushes (25-50 mm) for narrow areas should be used.

For Conventional Spray application :-

Thinner : Type 290
Addition : 10-15%
Nozzle Orifice : 1.2 -1.4 mm
Nozzle Pressure : 40-70 p.s.i.

For Airless Spray application :-

Thinner : Type 290
Addition : Max 5%, if required.
Nozzle Orifice : 0.28 mm
Nozzle Pressure : 1400-1800 p.s.i.

Notes

1. Do not apply paint when temperature falls below 10° C or rises above 50° C, when Relative Humidity is above 85% & during rain, fog, or mist. Do not apply on hot surface (above 50° C). Surface temperature must always be minimum of 3°C above Dew point.

2. Brushes and spray equipment should be cleaned with SAFFRO's recommended thinner otherwise equipment is liable to be damaged.

3. DFT variation can be obtained by change in application method / thinning ratio.

4. Shelf life indicated is minimum for this Product in sealed conditions and it is subject to re-inspection thereafter. Individual component is required to be stored in cool, dry and covered condition, away from heat and ignition.

Health & Safety

This is a solvent based paint and care should be taken to avoid inhalation of spray mist or vapours as well as contact between the wet paint and exposed skin or eyes.
